Did you know that Defiance County was gifted ground from the Penney family just outside the city of Defiance for a nature preserve? Penney Nature Center is located at 08855 Ashpacher Road, Defiance, Ohio 43512. It is open to the public from dawn to dusk. Penney is comprised of 78 acres of wetlands, prairie lands, and woodlands. The Defiance SWCD has made many improvements recently and hope to continue doing so. Some of these improvements include the construction of a covered bridge, a new walking bridge, trail signs and markers, and an improved driveway and parking lot.
